Luxury Cruising Catamarans

So this is gonna be my last blog post, as everything has to end sometimes and this module of my transition year is over.

As you see in the title this blog post is about luxury cruising catamarans.
Luxury Catamarans have to have a minimum size from 8 metres, but the luxury versions I'm talking about are much bigger, so that the ship has enough Volume to live on. The sleeping area is then most of the time in the front or in the end of the two hulls and the normal living will be take place on the bridge deck. The Cruising Catamarans can come with or without motor. A lot of the ones with motor are solar powered. To be on a cruising catamaran doesn't mean that it's automatically a sailboat, but I'm talking here in specific about the sailboats. These Catamarans are really expensive and can cost the amount of a normal one family house.

Here a plan of a big cruising Catamaran:

Mega-Catamarans

As I said in one of my last post I will write about different types of Catamarans, first of these with out a motor. So we'll now talk about Mega-Catamarans.

Mega-Catamarans are defined as "multihulls over 100 feet (30 m) in length" (Wikipedia)
One of the first of this super catamarans was an Allures cat, which is over 30 metres long and was build from Blubay Yachts who launched it 2007 in France, it got later refitted by Coste Design&Partners.
Coste Design&Partners is also preparing a new project called "Event Cat". It's a luxury Yacht which will be used for numerous events and will have a length of 62 metres

This isn't the Cat I'm talking about but it's still an impressive Yacht and I would suggest that you look allures up yourself to find even more impressive Pictures

Beside luxury an other reason for the increased building of Super-Catamarans was "The Race".
A sailing race around the world held in 2001. It was the first non-stop, no-rules, no-limits race ever.
Because of it's prestige and the $2 Million US price, there were four new Mega-Catamarans build.
The largest of these mega-cats called "playstation" and owned by Steven Fossett was 38m long and it's mast was 45m high had to drop due a serious damage out of "The Race" after just 16 days.
